The fifth international Chess Festival “Cēsis” concludes successfully

Signet Bank is proud to have supported the International Chess Festival “Cēsis” for the second consecutive year – one of the most significant chess events in Latvia and the Baltic region. This year’s festival took place from 16 to 21 June. Through our support, we aim to promote analytical thinking and thoughtful decision-making – skills that are essential not only in chess but also in everyday life.

Held for the fifth time this year, the festival brought together more than 500 participants from 16 countries and featured a diverse programme of tournaments across various chess formats. Games were played both indoors, at the newly developed Konrāda Quarter, and in event marquees located in Maija Park. On 20 and 21 June, Signet Bank hosted its signature head-to-head competition, featuring the traditional Rapid and Blitz tournaments, which have become one of the festival’s main highlights. The competition was ceremonially opened by Signet Bank Chairman of the Management Board, Roberts Idelsons, who made the symbolic first move.

The festival welcomed both experienced grandmasters and emerging young chess talents, creating a unique environment where players of different generations and skill levels could compete side by side. This year, the festival championship title was won by Ņikita Meškovs!
