Signet Bank donates to the social initiative centre Common Ground

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, already more than 7.6 million people have had to flee in search of a safe haven. Signet Bank made a donation to the Common Ground centre, demonstrating socially responsible behaviour.

Common Ground is a social initiative that provides practical and emotional support to anyone in need. The initiative is intended for people who were forced to abandon their homes due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Common Ground is a place to meet, hang out, help others and express yourself creatively. It has a library, playrooms for kids of different ages, a quiet room, coworking spaces equipped with computers, offices for consultations, a hall for meditation and yoga, and a space for events. The project involves both Ukrainians who have lived in Riga for a long time and those who arrived in Riga after Russia’s invasion.

At a time when the values of the democratic world have been shaken, it is more important than ever for us to be socially responsible and continue to help those who need it most. Realizing what a traumatic experience the war has brought to Common Ground visitors, we want to support the opportunity for war victims to forget about the dangers of war even for a moment. Hopefully, participation in the activities offered by Common Ground will make this possible, at least for a moment.

While waiting for Christmas, Signet Bank employees visited Common Ground and took part in the preparation of traditional Ukrainian food – varenyki (dumplings). Sometimes all it takes is just a little cheering and being together to brighten up these days!
