Signet Bank continues to support Latvian athletes who, with determination, perseverance, and courage, strive to achieve the highest results, and is starting a partnership with 21-year-old Latvian windsurfer Dāvis Mazais. In recent years, Dāvis has experienced rapid growth, winning the title of U-19 world vice-champion in the “IQFoil” class and solidifying his position in international competition. Currently, his next major goal is to represent Latvia at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Dāvis’s journey into professional sports began quite simply – he first tried windsurfing in Pāvilosta when his father suggested it as a summer activity. What started out as just a hobby and a chance to spend time on the water several times a week gradually grew into a serious passion. Competitions, Baltic Cups, and his first international races made Dāvis realize that windsurfing is a sport in which he wants to achieve ever-higher results. Currently, Dāvis competes in the “IQFoil” class – a dynamic windsurfing discipline in which athletes, using a hydrofoil (or underwater wing), are able to reach high speeds even in relatively light wind conditions.
Dāvis’s story clearly shows us what can be achieved when passion turns into purposeful effort. From his first steps on a windsurf board to the podium at the world championships – his journey is a testament to discipline, perseverance, and the ability to constantly improve. Dāvis has already proven his ability to achieve outstanding results at the international level, and now his next major challenge lies ahead – the Olympic cycle. We support Dāvis on his journey toward his Olympic goal and look forward with confidence to his future achievements, emphasizes Ineta Done, Member of the Management Board of Signet Bank.

For Dāvis, windsurfing isn’t just a competitive sport – it’s also a passion and a special feeling that comes from being on the water and interacting with the wind. It was precisely this feeling that eventually turned a summer hobby into a serious athletic goal.
My dream is not only to make it to the Olympic Games myself, but also to show others – especially younger athletes – that with hard work and perseverance, it is possible. I am very grateful that Signet Bank believes in my goal and supports me on this journey. This is just the beginning! says Dāvis Mazais.

Dāvis’s journey to the Los Angeles Olympic Games has already begun. In September 2025, he was selected as a recipient of the Olympic Solidarity program “Olympic Support for Athletes – Los Angeles 2028,” becoming one of 12 Latvian athletes to receive this support. As part of the program, athletes are provided with financial and organizational support for training and participation in international competitions to ensure they are fully prepared for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
With Signet Bank’s support, Dāvis will continue to improve his athletic performance, gain international experience, and prepare for the most important events of the Olympic cycle. The next two years will be a crucial phase on the path to his goal – earning the opportunity to represent Latvia at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Latvian athletes inspire, Signet Bank supports.
