Signet Bank becomes a supporter of the Chess Festival

This June, Cēsis will reclaim its role as the hub of an international chess gathering by hosting the 3rd International Chess Festival “Cēsis”. Throughout seven days, from the 15th to the 21st of June, chess enthusiasts from across the globe will converge in Cēsis, engaging in eight distinct chess tournaments. Signet Bank steps in as a major contributor to this event through its support of the chess festival.

The games will take place not only in traditional chess halls but also in the urban environment of Cēsis, allowing chess players and spectators to enjoy the city’s historical and cultural heritage. Particularly promising is the SIGNET BANK classical tournament, which will be held in the “Cēsis” concert hall. Over four days, chess players will compete in 8 rounds using standard chess time control (90+30 minutes), which is a test of not only skills but also endurance and concentration.

We are delighted with the support from Signet Bank, which will allow us to make the festival a higher quality and more attractive destination for both chess amateurs and professionals. Last year’s chess festival “Cēsis” was recognized as the Cēsis region’s sports event of the year; this year, we will continue the work started in previous years and make Cēsis the chess capital of Latvia in June. The beneficiaries of a larger and higher quality festival will be both the chess players themselves and the residents and visitors of Cēsis.
